Do I need an ORCID account to use Researcher search?
No. KinetixAI queries the public ORCID API, which is open and requires no sign-in on either platform. You need a KinetixAI account only if you want to add a researcher's papers to your Research RAG.
What if a researcher is not on ORCID?
ORCID coverage is very high for active academic researchers but not universal. If a name search returns no results, the researcher may not have an ORCID record or may publish under a different name variant. Try their institutional page name or check whether they have an ORCID iD on their faculty profile page.
How current is the data?
Researcher profiles are fetched live from the ORCID API each time you search — no stale cache. Publication dates and work counts reflect whatever the researcher has registered in their ORCID record at the moment you look them up.
I pasted a Google Scholar URL and got no results. Why?
KinetixAI extracts the researcher's name from Scholar URLs and runs an ORCID name search. If the Scholar profile name differs significantly from how they are registered on ORCID — a middle-name variant, a transliteration difference — the search may return few results. Try typing their name directly into the search box, or paste their ORCID iD if you can find it on their faculty page.
How many papers get added when I click Add to RAG?
All public works registered in the researcher's ORCID record are queued. Only papers with open-access PDFs are downloaded and indexed for full-text search. Papers without a downloadable full text are indexed by title, abstract and metadata — still searchable, but not available for page-level citation.
Can I add papers from multiple researchers and ask across all of them?
Yes. Your Research RAG workspace accumulates papers from every source you add — individual PDFs, arXiv links, GitHub repos and researcher catalogs all sit in the same searchable index. KXAI can synthesise answers that draw from two or more researchers' work in a single response.
